MOM OF AN ANGEL
I lifted my eyes to the Heavens tonight,
Seeking my Angel up there.
As the stars twinkled brightly in an ocean of blue,
My heart uttered a Mom's special prayer.
"Lord, I am lost without him You know,
Stumbling through every new day.
I'll never understand how hard a heart breaks
When a Mom's baby is taken away.
Searching for answers while tossed in the sea
Of doubt, turmoil, and grief;
Tell me once more how You needed him home,
In a way a Mom can believe."
A wind gently stirred through the giant oak tree,
The one he always would climb,
Swinging like Tarzan across every branch;
Oh, these sweet memories of mine.
There's his old bike, now rusty and broke,
Leaning against the garage door.
If time could stand still, where would I go?
Perhaps to the day he was born?
Here on the eve of another Mom's Day,
Lord, if only I could hear
His soft gentle voice, singing his songs
Would it somehow erase all of my tears?
God, in His mercy, hears every word,
He gently cradles her heart.
The Mom of an Angel is His greatest gift,
Through Him, they're one heartbeat apart.
