IN MY SMILE

I asked the Lord for patience, he whispered in my ear,
"Gaze upon your children and smile through silent tears."

I asked the Lord for wisdom to get through each new day;
He brought me to my knees and taught me how to pray.

I asked for understanding, of countless 'hows' and 'whys'
"Lean upon the Cross; seek answers through My Eyes."

God asked me to confess the sins of mortal man,
"Believe that you are worthy, reach out, and take My Hand."

His Hands, though scarred were gentle; they touched a dying soul
"Come to Me most humbly; I'll never let you go."

I asked the Lord to take me, home to be with you,
"My child, I know you're ready but there's still work to do.

Go forth and teach My Love, reach out to those in need,
You'll feel My Arms around you with every humble deed.

One day your path in life, will end at Heaven's door,
There you'll find your son and pain is felt no more."

I asked the Lord to show me, the face of my sweet child,
"Gaze upon your Savior; you'll see him in My Smile."
