HOLD ON TIGHT

She reached down,
And touched the precious head of her sleeping baby.
Took a deep breath, whispered a prayer,
"How was I blessed? I'm just a simple lady.
God, give me the strength, please always be there."

He looked down,
And picked his little boy up off the ground.
"Daddy", he asked, "Take the training wheels off,
I can do it as long as I know you're around."
He knew he was growing, his baby days lost.

God reached down,
"Take My hand and hold on tight,
My love will guard you through the darkness of night.
Like a pure snowfall, the soft cooing dove,
Open your hearts and feel My great love."

She reached up,
And touched the hands of a gray haired man.
"Honey, I must go now, my work here is done,
Our years together, we danced with the band,
The Angels now wait for me to come home."

He reached up,
And closed her eyes, the deepest of blue.
Brushed back her hair, wiped the tears from his eyes.
The ache in his heart, if only he knew,
How to go on without her by his side.

God lifted up,
The aches and pains of broken hearts,
In lonely souls He shines His light,
Never again will we spend time apart,
Grab on to God and hold on tight.
