MY ANGEL
I was asked to write a poem, one that might explain,
Who made a difference in my life and in that, helped me change?
There are many ‘Angel’ friends, family and acquaintances, too,
But, if I had to choose just one, here’s what I would do.
I’ll take the years with all their dreams, reach within a heart,
And ask myself, ‘Who’d you miss most when, from Earth I’ll depart?’
With Ed, my mate, I am blessed and cherish every day,
If he should leave before I do, he’ll be at Heaven’s gate.
I love our kids more than life and know they love me more,
Where once lived five precious kids, now we’re left with four.
We’ve faced the darkness with the loss of our sweet and gentle son,
Across the span of eternal space, our love continues on.
As time moved on we were blessed with ‘Angels’ in our ‘grands’,
There’s nothing sweeter than the touch of a tiny, ‘Angel’ hand.
Each night I pray that I’ll go first for their journeys are brand new,
Let them hold within their hearts the ‘clouds’ we all soared through.
Friends have crossed many paths, twists and life’s roughest seas,
We’ve shared a love that’s Heaven sent, oft on bended knee.
We’ve laughed and cried, loved and lost, held on oh, so tight,
Stood together, hand in hand and fought for all that’s right.
Alas, to ‘choose’ just one heart that made this life complete,
Would be a ‘task’ left undone for, each one’s so unique.
Each of you is deeply loved and if I’ve not said it yet,
To you, my Angel, I give thanks and your heart I won’t forget.
