I DREAMED OF HEAVEN
We all know of the nights when sleep just won’t come,
With so many worries and things left undone.
Tossing and turning, walking the floor,
Just leaves us exhausted and wondering, ‘what for?’
Trials of the heart and tests of the soul,
Has oft’ left me stranded, alone in the cold.
Reaching to God in the darkest of nights,
To chase away demons or end this Mom’s plight.
The death of a child brings a Mom to her knees,
“Where do I go, Lord? In what can I believe?”
As soft as a lamb and with nary a sound,
One of God’s Angels eased my head down.
Through meadows and forests a young girl now runs,
With the wind in her hair and face kissed by the sun.
No worries or troubles, she sings from her heart,
Blessed with the knowledge God gave a new start.
There’s no pain or hunger, no sickness or death,
Where once lived a shadow, now love lives instead.
She sees all of her loved ones that death once claimed,
Free in the spirit of God’s precious name.
Mansions with rooms on streets paved with gold,
In a land of such beauty, she’ll never grow old.
“Child, you must go now, for there’s much left to do,
When your journey’s over, we’ll be waiting for you.”
Somewhere in time, a Mom’s heart starts to mend,
Believing the promise she’ll see him again.
Tho’ yesterday’s a memory and tomorrow’s not yet known,
When I dreamed of Heaven, I found my way home.
