OUR OWN SUPERMAN
Most folks know Micah as Matt’s younger brother,
He’s that and much more, one like no other.
Like most of America, he waits and he prays,
Believing his best friend will come home one day.
While still in high school, Micah joined the Marines,
With his deep love of Country, he’ll realize his dreams.
Matt signed on with the Army in 2004,
After an ambush, he’s missing in war.
A man of great faith, believing in prayer,
Micah and family know Matt’s captured somewhere.
Determined and hardworking, his life carries on;
A compassionate Marine has a job to be done.
Spontaneous and good humored, all strangers are friends;
Another young life almost came to an end.
While riding his motorcycle in December ‘05,
A tragic accident would leave him fighting for his life.
Broken and battered, with a long recovery ahead,
Micah soon cheered others from his hospital bed.
A fighting Marine, now on light duty waits,
The Board will soon determine this proud Soldier’s fate.
A friend speaks of Micah, as loved ones will do,
Reflecting on games and pranks of his youth.
Chocolate and spicy foods, Oreos and pop tarts,
Are some of his favorites, a direct path to his heart.
He hopes to return to full duty in June,
Exercising daily to his favorite country music tunes.
With an uncertain future, the one thing Micah understands,
America salutes him, our own Superman.
