MEMORIAL DAY – 2003

Time to remember
As if we could forget
Those to whom our freedom
Owes a never-ending debt

A special day in May
To which we set aside
To honor our nations heroes
The ones who died with pride

Missed they shall forever be
We veterans all know a few
Some young soldier from long ago
Who may have died along side of you

Their names may have escaped us
And their faces may not be clear
But their blood and selfless sacrifice
Is the bond that holds us dear

Think back old vet to the hazy days
We were invincible or so we thought
I didn’t realize it then my friends
But death is how freedoms bought

A Memorial Day remembrance
Dwells inside each of us every day
A love for our brothers and sisters
Expressed by two simple words we say…

…Thank you
