GENERATION OF SORROW

We have spent our lives looking back
At the violence of our youth
Regretting the bloodshed of innocence
Forever seeking the eternal truth

Would we have stood the test of courage
Knowing full well that we would die
The way our battle torn Brothers did
When they put their lives down on the line

Would we have had the faith to believe
As we gasped for our last breath
That we would be remembered by our nation
As a generation that did our best

58,000 answered freedom's call
when death would be their only gain
bound by honor and love for country
would we have done the same

We wore the same uniforms you and I
We trod upon the same bloody ground
But we survived and lived to go on
To return to our hometowns

We should have no guilt within our heart
Still we find it hard to face tomorrow
Because we carry these questions of war
We are history's generation of sorrow
