EVERGREEN

I know not what
The future will bring
In these times
Where even free birds
Fail to sing

We hunt down
Enemies,
Who live deep in dusty holes
And watch helplessly
As friends take their own lives,
To release their tortured souls

We fear on a daily basis
And wonder,
What would happen if?
How can we so deeply care?
Committing our being
To solitaire

We rage within
And are prone to sin
Trembling, saying as if?
Trying to keep
Our upper lip stiff

But I do know this
and this,
Presence of the present
Is all we have,
For the uncertainty of Tomorrow,
in this life
Brings with it happiness
Or sorrow.

Realizing this,

I am grateful,
To exist and to depend,
To love without regrets,
To know friendships without end,
To experience all that loyalty doth beget.

To feel the presence of a higher power
To smell the fragrance of a simple flower
To glean from unwritten text
Both In this life and the next
to understand beyond reason
There is life in the changing seasons...

Does this seem an impossible dream?

I think not,

For even in the dead of winter,
Remains the Evergreen..........

To know this,
Is peace
