AMERICA'S BASTARD

He marched at the head of the Veterans Day parade
Spit shined boots sparkling brightly in the sun
His military dress uniform was very impressive
With the dozens of colorful ribbons he had pinned on

He had the look of pride as the band was playing
He strutted his stuff before his honoring crowd
Around his neck hung the Medal of Honor
Assured that his fans would be so very proud

He carried the colors of the Red, White and Blue
Onlookers saluted him as he passed by
But all he could think of, was look at me
As old Veterans wiped teardrops from their eyes

God Bless America resounded from instruments of brass
Golden cymbals crashed and the drums beat on
and the decked out soldier thought he sure looked good
Wearing the ribbons someone else had won
