Childhood home of Charles and Richard Preston: Lebanon, New HamposhireTWO HOUSES DOWN
As I walk this hill
with much to view
looking at…
trees of white birch, pines so green
hearing…
sounds in spring air crisp and clean
the clanging of steel, a ringer for three
viewing…
a knife marked tree
and old white house, so wonderful to see
remembering…
my past, family times shared
the love the care
thinking…
how times have changed
things now rearranged
but somehow remain the same
new faces of children
now the present but…
always the past
without those years
the future would not exist
wondering…
how many are still here
how many lost to the war of life
for the visions of back then
appear again and again
knowing…
I am back, my roots, my past
living this small town
this hill this street
only two houses down
