MY BLUE MOUNTAINS
I love to watch through the bedroom window as another lovely day is born,
Then wander outside to feel the clean crisp cold of approaching dawn.
In these beautiful Blue Mountains of mine, there is no time to be bored,
And when it’s time to leave their wondrous beauty, my soul, for a while, has been restored.
I love to watch the many birds as they all come in to feed,
And sitting watching contentedly, I find I have no other need
Just to be here, enjoying the beauty of this wonderful place.
I forget the city with its drudge and drear and hustling pace.
The pain and stress and fears of life all just fade away,
As I sit and watch the dawn give birth to another beautiful day.
Beholding all this beauty I feel my strength at last return,
And deep inside my soul, the fires of life begin to burn.
Each day, exploring, seeking, discovering something new:
At peace, at last, and never at a loss for something to do.
The little villages and their people make me feel at ease,
Always cheerful and smiling and always ready to please.
The city, I find, stifles me and buries me in a big black hole.
It crushes me, it drags me down and it destroys my soul.
These mountains though restore me and I wish I could remain.
I know that if I lived here, I would never leave again.
Ah but one day, someday, and if my wishes all come true,
I’ll leave this dreary city and live in my mountains of blue.
And I’ll watch the world from my veranda, drinking a cup of tea,
Feeling so contented, with my darling Lindy, this is the life for me.
