DON’T WEEP FOR ME

Don’t weep for me as you pull the respirator plug.
That isn’t me lying in that bed.
I’m way deep in dreams
Where I run with wild horses
And hover on the wind
With the red tailed hawks,
And you might see me
With the Star Boys tonight
Playing across the night-time sky.

Don’t weep for me when my doctors
Tell you the lights are on
But nobody’s home
Because my bodily functions
Take on a life of their own
And I shit and I piss right where I lay,
And I can’t take pride
In my turds anymore.

Don’t weep for me when you take away the tube
Which delivers my food
Because I don’t know you now…
I’m way deep in dreams.
Tell me you love me,
Even though I can’t hear you
And I loved you too, more than you know.
So let me go now,
Don’t keep me here.
