A STITCH IN TIME

Two suits hung upon the closet door
As I pondered which of them to wear.
Buttons missing on the last one worn
Pushed my hand toward the other, torn
At the seam, and, too, in need of care.

But having no time to mend the two
Because of meetings I must attend,
I chose the one being navy blue,
Closing my mind to the nine-stitch rule,
And knowing, if caught, I must defend.

Perhaps one day I would find the time
To learn the art of needle and thread,
But not today, for, running behind,
Having to deal with the office grind...
No time for the thought and art to wed.

Putting on the latter of the two,
I ran out of time to dress or think.
I berated myself for what I knew
And worried that I would look the fool
As the boss at Time Management, Inc.
