WITH A SHIPLOAD OF FAITH
I ponder on the universe
and life beyond this realm
where anything is possible
for my Captain at the Helm,
who filled the seas with whales
and made the oceans roar,
the suns, the moons, the asteroids
and meteors galore;
He, with sovereign power,
created all I know,
and all the things I don’t,
above and here below,
around the corner, past my senses,
beyond my sight and smell,
my touch, my taste, my hearing
and the sixth I have as well.
Omnipotent, my Captain
charts the course I sail
from the waters of the womb
to where my thoughts can fail
to conjure up that heaven
which He, with love, prepared
where war and tears are not
and peace is uncompared;
My God, my Lord, my Savior,
the Captain of life’s seas,
now steers my ship to port
with me on grateful knees
in prayer and ever faithful
that when I leave this space,
He’ll part the carnal storm
so I can see His face!
