TO MY VERY BEST FRIEND
No words are adequate, I fear
In describing my feelings for you
You’re my best friend, Gaby, dear
This much I know is true
You are always there to lend a hand
Sticking around till the bitter end
When I feel down, you understand,
You’re the most perfect gift God could send
You bury my faults in massive graves
Putting up with my endless complaints
Always showing how a true friend behaves
Following the example of heavenly saints
Our friendship is like a fine new wine
Aged to perfection over the years
Pleasing to the senses…… one of a kind
Binding us together mid laughter and tears
I can always tell you what I am feeling
Or what else is a good friend for
‘Tis but one thing making you so appealing
This one point I must underscore
My favorite sweater is a comfortable thing
Providing warmth when there’s a chill in the air
Molding to my body, no pain does it bring
Old friends and sweaters do aptly compare
As a person would choose a mate for life
Likewise, one should choose a friend
Who’ll love you through good times and strife
That you are, my friend… until the bitter end.
