THERE’S ONLY UP FROM HERE

My soul had lost its place,
a victim born from sin.
A darkened void in space
lay where it should have been.

My life was incomplete,
a bird that had no wings,
a heart without a beat,
a song that no one sings;

But then I found your love,
the end of my worn rope,
a rainbow from above,
the promise of new hope.

Your face looked down on me,
a beacon burning bright.
My sins were shown to me,
eclipsed by your own light.

The dark made way for dawn.
My life began anew…
a stumbling newborn fawn
and looking up to you.

Now saved, I see your crown,
your cross I’m crawling up.
My sins are losing ground,
for I am falling up…

Upward to your embrace…
there’s only up from here
and love that has a face…
a face that sheds no tear.
