IT’S YOUR ANNIVERSARY!

Happy Anniversary!
I’m sad you worked today.
I took off work to celebrate.
I hope that it’s okay.

I know it can’t seem possible
The years have flown so fast…
Your wedding day, long brown hair,
Platform shoes, Rick’s arm in a cast.

Another year of married life
And you’re both together still…
A major feat… this day and time…
Or maybe just God’s will.

He never makes mistakes, you know,
And He meant for you to wed,
Even though Rick snores at you
And tries to steal the spread.

It doesn’t matter if you both
Have different tastes in food
Or, after all these years,
You look different in the nude.

It doesn’t matter if your taste
In music ain’t the same,
If going shopping ain’t his bag
Or racing ain’t your game.

What does matter are the things
Which keep you wed today…
Love and goals and good times shared
And God’s will along the way.

He knew that you were meant for Rick
And Rick was meant for you,
That together you’re the answer…
Like one and one makes two.

You both share common values
Like what is right and wrong.
You balance out… when one is weak,
The other will be strong.

Your choice in friends is wonderful,
Just perfect… I must say.
Of course, I might be partial.
Forgive me, please, okay?

Twenty-one years and going strong
And God’s will is right on track;
But if God’s will is never wrong,
Why have platform shoes come back?

With Love, Nancy…
