IT WAS A GREY AND STORMY AFTERNOON
The swaying trees, thick with summer leaves,
blocked my view of the blackening sky
as I blazed a trail through the forest green,
aware that without food, I would surely die.
“One foot in front of the other…” I said,
“and soon I’ll be safely on the other side.”
“‘T would be a shame… to be found dead,
so close… yet, so far away,” I sighed.
Beating back branches slapping my face,
I suddenly felt like I was going to faint
as I struggled to maintain my frantic pace.
But “Ready to die?” Most surely, I ain’t!
Then, all of a sudden, I spotted it there…
glistening against the ominous clouds,
rising in the sky as my tired feet drew near,
the trees behind me long-forgotten shrouds.
“Thank God!” I cried, as I gazed up in awe
at those two huge arches enameled in gold,
that clown’s smile… the brightest I ever saw…
Ahhh! Mickey D’s! What a joy to behold!!
