GRABBING THE BAIT
I’m glad to know you’ll never cease
to paint the page with nature’s peace,
releasing moi from carnal despair
to join the feathered in the air
or fish with you on quiet lakes,
outwitting bass for both our sakes,
that war and progress leave us be
to wallow in the symmetry
of life and death from natural laws
that make us gasp and give us pause
to dive into the whole we see,
until we’re caught and then set free!

A poetic response prompted by delightful communication regarding the poem, “Connections” ~ ©Copyright June 23, 2007 by Colin F. Jones, detailed below.
On June 25, 2007, Nancy wrote: What a delightful vision! If I were a fisherman, I think I could truly relate. I can hardly wait to read your future verses on this one. Tranquilized by your marvellous talent, I am WallowingLilripple
Colin responded thus: Then I shall continue forever, Nancy, for I dine on your sweet words like rare delicacies; what more inspiration would a poor poet desire.
