Paul F. McCann

Old Mother Ireland is talking to you.
Put down your guns Belfast or else we’re through.
I’m sick of fighting both orange and green.
It’s time to make peace and forget what’s been.
Thirty two of my children need some peace.
For I love them all and want it to cease.
Listen to your Mother, don’t break my heart.
Enough is enough now it’s time to start.
As one and not divided we must be.
I’m Mother Ireland so listen to me.
I’m older than hatred and wiser too;
Younger for your love, and hoping in you.
Children of Ireland from North to the South,
Peace is a word that I put in your mouth.
Hold on to this and never let it go.
Peace is a river and long may it flow.
