BIG ARMY BOOTS
My boy Joseph’s as brave as they come,
with a watchful eye for whatever may come.
I told him,
“Son push on and be strong
for a soldier’s life is a disciplined one.”
I said,
“You must find the strength to walk through flames
and ignore the danger at the door.
Rise to each challenge and when it is gone,
speak up loud and clear and ask for some more.”
So in his uniform he marched off to camp
with the rank cadets and young recruits.
At twelve years old he’s joined the cadets
and as tall as me in his army boots.
Oh Joseph my child is all grown up now
and it’s time to salute him as I should.
Great work my son, you’ve done me proud
