CARRY THEM HOME

Marching through the muck and placing bodies on a truck.
A cough carries them off to a coffin, where a prayer carries them home.
One by one these soldiers were retrieved by those who were left behind.
Sadly missed, but no relief of tears had ever been shown.

Boggy mud puddles lay between bodies on the battlefields
and the rain tumbled down filling up empty helmets and boots.
Thunder blasted through a concrete coloured sky
as lightening cut slits in fabricated faces of the war worn weary troops.
