AND I ESCAPED
I slid out of the choppers side hatch without being seen.
I free fell for miles until I splashed into the ocean.
I swam for a long while and then I found this small island,
where I staggered from the surf and threw myself on the sand .
I sat in peace and thought of another place I had been,
where trees of green and singing birds were never heard or seen .
Grief left me a brief pause from where I was to where I went,
but shadows fell before my memories had all been sent .
Back to earth again and hell seems so very far away.
I had nothing to say to them at the end of the day.
I took off the salty blindfold and rubbed my tired eyes.
I walked from the sand to the jungle and I realised
I was back at the base camp at the rising of the moon.
I thought to myself how did I ever get here so soon.
Evening shadows had almost gone like the last strands of fear.
Silence shattered as a motor bike's roar drilled through my ear.
In a second I was surrounded by some soldiers there.
Blindfolded I was taken away back into the air.
How high was I up, six feet or sixty, I didn't know.
Another hand on my back pushed me out and I fell slow.
I came back to cold reality two feet off the ground.
This time I hope that I can escape before I am found
