GRANDMA'S CHRISTMAS COOKIES

Grandma's Christmas cookies
were treats for young and old
Wrapped up in pretty boxes
of red with green and gold

Grandma's sugar cookies
were made with loving care
Many hours in the kitchen
so plenty could be shared

Wax paper on the counters
overflowing with the treats
Decorated with colored frosting
after many hours on her feet

Candy sprinkles in all colors
is where the fun began
To leave them off at Christmas
would have almost been a sin

The angels sprinkled yellow
and Santas trimmed with red
The snowmen all got raisins
on tummies and their heads

Our Grandma passed away
over twenty years ago
The tradition is still shared
with grandchildren of our own

So many Grandmas out there
that live in nursing homes
Some sleep in cardboard boxes
and they're feeling all alone

Bake some Christmas cookies
that are made with loving care
Bring your children in the kitchen
and make plenty to be shared

Decorate them in many colors
and let them dry awhile
Fill up some pretty boxes
and share them with a smile

Grandma's Christmas cookies
are treats for young and old
Wrapped up in pretty boxes
of red with green and gold
