DEAD
Imagine yourself dead
the grim reaper came for someone else
but took you instead.
What story did you leave behind
were you an evil bastard
or were you righteous and kind?
Depends on who you ask
'cause you won't be there
to be up to the task.
History is written by winners
not by ordinary Joes
just your garden variety sinners
and that is how it goes.
It will be a little late to write
your own obituary
when you are already laid out
in the mortuary.
One good thing though
the people who would bad mouth you
will be the next to go.
The body is weak and falters
and only our deeds live on
it will be too late to make corrections
when you are dead and gone.
I guess the message here
is do the right thing
to be for nothing is not something,
not the song the poets will sing.
Get it right
make the peace with those you used to hate
if you are alive its not too late.
There is no excuse
not to do right
and do evil instead
and then say you couldn't do right
because now you are
dead.
