BEYOND ANY WORDS
This image is beyond words
What story could possibly explain,
this image burned into my brain.
This human being dying before my eyes
this apparition death walking
and no amount of lies
can explain his condition.
He looks at my camera
but who knows what he sees:
Perhaps crossing the Jordan
in search of an afterlife.
There are certain things
that we shouldn’t have to see.
This is one of them
for death has no dignity
and the story must be told
and must be heard
even if the image is
beyond any words.
