TALKING TO HIS POCKET

Photo ©Copyright 2007 by John-Ward LeightonMy leg just rang
and I answered
now this is something
you will never see
in Hansard.

Incoming calls
the pocket on my leg
said to me
and I fumbled
and groped myself to find my phone you see.

Finally phone in hand
I took the call from
some guy way out in Fantasy land
he said “Christ don’t fall off your sprocket
just keep talking to your pocket.”

Everybody knows
that talking to your pocket
won’t get you piece of tail or a taste of chocolate
but you can book a ride on a rocket
just dial one up from your pocket.

I know this sounds silly
but I’m writing this to lighten up my pal Billy
he knows I’m not quite off my sprocket
just one dumbass poet always
talking to his pocket.
