SENSATION

at this time in my life
when the telephone poles
along the highway of my life
are flashing past like they were
a picket fence
and my story is receding in the rear view mirror
in a rapid kaleidoscope of confused images
at the speed of light
with the Doppler sensation of a receding sound

where is this going
how long will I be here
are we really alone
where are we
when will we be home
if there is no home to be
can we trust anything
in our confused frustration
or is it all about how we feel
right now
no where no there
feeling nothing
except this instant’s
nervous
sensation
