MOURNING: A GOOD BYE FOR JOE BAGEANT

we all have to go sometime its true
but there are those times when a passing
just don’t seem right
its as if there was some dark mistake
in the schedule

a man I never physically met
died of cancer last Saturday in Winchester WVA
a place I’ve never been
and I had this deep feeling of grief
that swept over me when we got the news

we knew he was ill
but being the bear of a man
that he was and not a complainer
we kinda felt he would overcome

I only knew him from his writing
his written words struck a chord
with me and I felt we were brothers
in arms

in truth my mourning
is selfish
I have the feeling that something very valuable
has been taken away from me

we know that good men are hard to find
while sons of bitches are a plenty
and us the invisible white trash losers

the road kill
in the class war have lost a true hero
and a stand up guy

P.S. May you have arrived in heaven a half hour before the devil knew you were gone
