OLD CHINATOWN

Old Chinatown
now it’s up
when it used to be down.
Still a great place
to shop and eat
the hustle and bustle
is really neat.
The new generation
has moved on
and is mostly in Richmond
what we old timers
now laughing call
“Ditchmond”
about twenty miles away
from the beginnings.
But the old timers are still having their innings
and still live in the old neighbourhood
where their hard work and courage
have been all been to the good.
It gives Vancouver cache,
that rough old logging town,
now that racism has seemingly faded away
is recognized as the new multicultural frontier
in all its brilliant colors
‘cause old Chinatown is still vibrantly here.
So that which is up but used to be down
can be seen every day
in old
Chinatown.
