FRIENDS, WHO KNEW?

I succumbed to Facebook
the other day
and people I barely knew
and some I didn’t
apparently wanted
to be
my Facebook friend
and the list goes on and on
when will it ever end

mostly people that I never phone
when I’m at home alone
and somehow I’m underwhelmed
at being overwhelmed
my mailbox stuffed with prompts
and like the dummy I am
I always answer more and more
as if they were pounding
on my door

but just the same
it’s nice to hear from people
who had disappeared into the fog
of time
I see the guy who
made the app
is right up there
with
Carlos, Bill and Warren
in the rarefied air
of being a billionaire

but as my list grew and grew
all these friends
I was unaware of
and now have on my “wall”
kind of like a joke
from the kids in the hall
tried and true
and in the glue
but then again
who knew?
