she came to my digs
and looted me
for drawing books crayons and dolls

then she got on my computer
and put on the
black eyed peas
singing
i gotta feeling

and while daughter Heather
read the Granta
grand daughter MAYA
did the hip hop thing
and danced with grand dad

grand dad still has his smile
in the corner of his eyes
even at the tears
of their going away
and this morning is another day

believe it or don’t
the black eyed peas
have their own station
on pop radio
and itunes

so as i write this
i’m listening
and in memory
dancing with
MAYA
