A STREET WITH NO SOUL

They have cut down the trees
leaving four foot stumps
ready for the final
indignity of being pulled out
by the roots
to make way for cars to park:
Cars to poison the air
because in the name of making a buck
they just don’t give a fuck.
So now our leafy green mall
will be like any other street
no humans allowed
for the automobile we will be made to pay
with no super hero to save the day.
Welcome to fun city;
don’t forget to pay the toll
for the “fuck me” bars
and cars on
a street with no soul.
