BEFORE THEIR TIME

The call went out
Through all the land
It's war they shout
We must make a stand

Our nation's youth
Put on the line
Those long of tooth
Will stay behind

The innocence of the young
Will surely be lost
When the battle's begun
Their own Holocaust

The sacrifice made
On far distant shores
The price that was paid
For the political wars

No war is a good war
No political reason
To put kids at death's door
To claim killing's in season

We must never forget
The young that we lost
Forever in debt
My God! What a Cost!

To judge which event
Be right or a crime
For troops to be sent
To die before their time

Now please Lord I pray
Before risking their lives
Think of Memorial Day
Their sons, daughters and wives

So many white stones
Both crosses and stars
The flesh turned to bone
The result of all wars

Having given their all
Nothing done a small way
They answered the call
Remember them always
