MENOPAST
(A Sonnet)

Cared not this chap for sports or dancing,
I was a lanky sanguine sort.
No finish for dance, or sinew for sport,
And when it came to first romancing,
I had no predilection of good report.
Dysfunction was my normal standing
Birds of a feather was my banding,
Lost and bound for Juvenile Court.

War in Korea changed my tack,
For I was a man when I came back.
No longer lanky or acned.
Sports and dancing? Yes indeed!
A wedding ring became my banding.
Family man is now my standing.
