CINDY LAPENNA
CAMOUFLAGE
In Flanders Fields,
(and too many others)
boys sleep,
blanketed by poppies...
oblivious to the generations
that put them there.

Author’s Poem: This poem was a result of a writing exercise where you choose from a variety of words and make them into your own poem. The original poem was about World War II, but I crafted this poem as an observation of war in general.
Cindy lives in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania and has written news, feature and op-ed pieces for various newspapers. She began writing poetry in the latter months of 2002 and enjoys photography, animals, the outdoors, and traveling.
