OH WAR!

Oh war!
Mothers cry and pray,
Fathers worry for sons who
Have gone away.

Oh war!
Leaving the brave hearts
For lovers lost, husbands gone
Away from us today.

Oh war!
Soldier's duty means Daddy's gone
To protect us and others,
Governments say.

Oh war!
Kills the innocent,
Leaders maneuver soldiers as pawns
As if it's play.

Oh war!
The devastation and loss of life
On both sides,
Who wins--this way?

Author’s Note: "Oh War!" was written at the same time as a wail or cry from my heart at the idea of war affecting so many innocent people who had no choice in the matter.
