So many Americans
know only,
that ‘Nam’ was a war
so long ago.

When streets were filled
with anger,
and the Veterans
took the blow.

Coming home
together,
… they all came home alone,

to restless nights
of nightmares,
and Brothers carved in stone.

Now old!
They fade away
into a silent place
called home.

Memory at midnight,
of wild horses,
long ago.

Wild horses,
with no more need
to roam.
