SHADOWS ON THE RIDGELINE

Each day
I awaken before dawn

listen to birds

place my flag
on my house

and remember them

.... all

of them.

Young faces
frozen
deep within the mirror
of time.

.... faces
of all Races

and none as old as mine.

I follow the Sun
until it rests upon my lap
like a silent
Blue eyed Cat.

Morning rises in Vietnam
as I sleep the silence
of the night.

I am a lone flag
remembering
and
waving them home.

The Cat sleeps
and silence whispers.....

... None shall be left behind.
