SHADOWS ON THE RIDGELINE

Each day
I awaken before dawn

listen to birds

place my flag
on my house

and remember them

… all

of them.

Young faces
frozen
deep within the mirror
of time.

… faces
of all Races

and none as old as mine.

I follow the Sun
until it rests upon my lap
like a silent
Blue eyed Cat.

Morning rises in Vietnam
as I sleep the silence
of the night.

I am a lone flag
remembering
and
waving them home.

The Cat sleeps
and silence whispers….

… None shall be left behind.
