LESSONS AT MIDNIGHT
Darkness,
the steady fall and rhythm
of rain,
… and always memories.
Pain is a sudden tear.
All that is alive is orphaned,
hoping,
it will dream of light.
That morning will be a soldier
who sleeps beneath strange shadows
and always survives the night.
