IT'S DECEMBER IN COLORADO

Looking west to the Rockies
The Majestic Purple Mountains
Are covered with snow
I slip another piece of gum
In my mouth and shake my head
As I stand in my front yard
With running shoes and silk shorts
It hasn't been cold enough
to put on long pants
at least this far south
forty miles west of me
The Indian Wintering Grounds
Has had several snows.
forty miles north
The Army Base is white coated
I wear shorts and t-shirts
freaky weather this year.
