SHADOWS IN MY MEMORY

THERE are shadows in my memory
Of a time so long ago
When I answered the call of my country
While the protesters shouted out “Don’t Go”

IT was a time of turmoil
In everybody’s life
When servicemen from everywhere
Were saying goodbye to their family or wife

THE thought of a big adventure
The like we had never seen before
Ended up becoming a nightmare
That’s known to all as WAR
