VANITY
Why is the human body so obscene,
That we make laws to hide our lovely skin,
From some bible story we redeem,
Such nonsense as a dreaded mortal sin.
Clothes are worn to keep us snug and warm,
Discarded when the fires are blazing hot,
And we remain as we were all born,
With all those wondrous things that we’ve got.
Yet we try to hide all that we are,
As though ashamed of our human form,
Deluded that we must look like a star,
Because we thing such beauty is the norm.
Yet all our bodies, round or thin or lame,
As human beings all the bloody same.
