TIME DEFEATS US ALL

Time defeats us all. We all must lose the fight;
All our beauteous days, are vanquished by the night.
And though we weep in vain suffering from the cost,
Fond memories we retain of those we have lost.
Though it eases not the pain knowing we all die,
That death will come to take us no matter how we try,
To live our lives for others for truth and hope and peace,
At least while we are living we can sweet love increase
We can from death find comfort that there’s another place to go,
Where perhaps we can forever of a glorious sanctuary know,
But that, though still a mystery may well not be true,
But for those we love and lose it will ever be our view.

Author’s Note: So many people dying – at least one for every birth. I still grieve for my father who died recently; I’m damned if I can get over it… but for what its worth I offer this.
