TIME AND TORMENT
It is proven that time diminishes torment
That lives in the brain from events of the past;
Memories of actions incurred in a moment
From a loss, or a trauma from a terrible blast.
We take with us our memories wherever we go
Through all of lives as we live to grow old,
And we learn not to suffer or make them our foe
By turning the cold stones into nuggets of gold.
Well they rise to the surface in our sadder moments
And they wake us sometimes from a desperate dream.
But each time if we laugh at these old wasted torments
Perhaps they’ll give up when they don’t hear a scream.
When we say it’s all over ‘cause they don’t mean a thing
Because when winter attacks us we think it is spring.
