THIS POET

I have no fear; I know God knows, what is in my heart,
I don’t care one bit about myself; I’ll live till I depart
I live for those I care about that is my role in life,
My brothers and my sisters, the children, and my wife.
I am not phased by ignorance nor self centred points of view;
I love the world and all its folk, including all of you.
I am not ashamed by what I’ve done; I chose to go to war,
Now I live a quiet life at home with an unlocked door.
My memories – they are mostly sad; I break down now and then,
But I like to think I serve folk still, with my “magic” pen.
I am thankful to those folk who help, and read the words I write,
And it matters not if words are said that are not quite polite.
It matters not; it matters not! An ego I don’t serve,
And I do believe that in the end we get what we deserve.
