THIS OLD MAN
When a man is old and suffers so, no longer fit to fight,
He can sit in his retirement and still with venom write.
Yes he will become a target for the younger foolish men
Who think they understand his thoughts and his wiser pen.
They will criticize his points of view; try to change them to their own,
But seldom will they make a mark and will then leave him alone.
The fool will scoff at his retirement, his contribution to the cause;
Trying to find a way around what the old man won’t endorse.
There are many in this world you know who think they know what’s right,
Who use God and privileged position to elevate their might.
But none know if what they’re saying is the real truth or not,
So those who don’t believe them are eliminated or forgot.
But this old man, who’ll pass over when his time comes to die,
Will never ever borrow from the fool who likes to lie.
