THE WAY OF THE FOOL
Pride casts off a man’s clothes
Leaving him naked in the sun.
He is bared before witnesses,
Himself having undone.
He speaks in haste to rebuke,
Placing a crown on the fool
To whom he will bow
And tend his footstool.
It is not faith he defends,
But his own made squaller;
Tis not on God he depends,
But on his own honour.
Such is the way of the fool,
Betraying his own school.
